This year, NHI has successfully won the bid for a desulfurization and denitrification ultra-low emission transformation for a coke oven gas in a southern steel plant. Additionally, the unmanned system designed for a project in Anhui has been accepted, marking new breakthroughs in environmental equipment and support for the green and intelligent development of the cement industry.

The highly anticipated 2024 HEAVY MACHINERY ASIA was recently held. The spiral vertical mill brought by NHI attracted many visitors to stop and inquire. It is reported that the world’s largest spiral vertical mill was manufactured by NHI in 2022, and the mill was the first in China to complete the lightweight design transformation. After the transformation, the product has lower energy consumption, higher efficiency, and easier maintenance, providing a new solution for the green transformation of the mining industry.

The spiral vertical mill is one of the innovative “green” equipment developed by NHI to support the low-carbon development. At NHI Design and Research Institute, Wang Weixing, Director and Chief Engineer of the Conveyor Equipment Design and Research Institute, introduced another typical “green” equipment - belt conveyor.

“The belt conveyor is not a new product, we produced it in the 1950s, and we started developing the whole machine around 1985. In 2011, we developed the longest single-belt conveyor, which was also in a leading position internationally.” Wang Weixing is very familiar with the development history of the product, “The growth of this product serves as a significant testament its compliance with the high-quality development of the green industry.”

NHI has made significant advancements in the length, capacity, and environmental standards of its belt conveyors by employing design methods such as 3D modeling and intelligent simulation. Currently, the belt conveyor designed and manufactured by NHI for the “Project No.1” of land space ecological restoration and integrated green mining development in Dongzhi, Anhui, has entered the installation phase. The project has an investment of 2.5 billion yuan, and will process 60 million tons of non-metallic materials annually from the Kejia Village mine. NHI has provided 25 pieces of equipment for the project, including belt conveyors, heavy-duty dumpers, and cantilever unloaders, with a total value of nearly 80 million yuan.

In recent years, NHI has formulated a green development outline for its products, focusing on innovative research and development. The company has successively launched a range of energy-saving and environmentally friendly products, including energy-efficient coolers, self-propelled telescopic circular stackers, slag mills, waste-to-energy incineration equipment. NHI’s integrated systems for power and metallurgical flue gas desulfurization and denitrification (such as pulverizing and pulping systems), wastewater treatment equipment (such as spiral pumps and sludge scrapers), and new types of energy-saving and emission-reduction environmental protection equipment (such as scrap steel processing lines, mobile wood shredders) have been successfully applied in various key projects and major engineering works, providing strong support for the green development of related industries.

In October 2024, after two and a half months of stable operation, the unmanned system for the limestone yard renovation and new auxiliary material yard, independently developed by NHI for a group in Anhui, successfully passed the customer’s acceptance. This marks another significant achievement for NHI in promoting green and intelligent development in application industries through innovation.

According to Yin Shen, Director of the Intelligent Technology Institute at NHI Design and Research Institute, in 2021, NHI customized a highly informatized unmanned stacker-reclaimer system for the group. To meet higher customer demands, NHI introduced advanced intelligent control systems and developed a new system framework. This resulted in comprehensive optimization and performance enhancements of the existing unmanned system. The upgraded system achieved precise scheduling and efficient operation of stacker and reclaimer equipment, reduced overall energy consumption, and significantly improved operational efficiency. The system provided a more effective solution for the green development of mining operations.

This system not only enables unmanned operations but also enhances green and safety standards. Most importantly, by using high-precision sensors and other facilities, it can provide real-time feedback of the stacker-reclaimer’s position, angle, and posture data to the intelligent platform. Based on this data, the system can intelligently determine optimal strategies for shaping stockpiles and operating the mechanical arms for the most efficient material handling.

Zhang Bin, President of NHI, states that the company will actively promote the pace of industrial cooperation, continue to focus on areas such as environmental protection equipment, aircraft landing gear maintenance, and manufacturing clusters.
